Meta Adelia Heins Meyer was born in Hanover, Germany, April 6, 1827, and died 1902. Henry came to America in 1842. Meta came to this country in 1851. They were married May 15, 1851, and first settled near Garnavillo. In 1863 they moved to Springfield in Grand Meadow Twp. Their name is on the original plat of Springfield. Meyer (Henrich, German for Henry) was born Aug. 1, 1819, in Germany. He died 1880. Meta Adelia Heins Meyer was born in Hanover, Germany, April 6, 1827, and died 1902. Henry came to America in 1842. Meta came to this country in 1851. They were married May 15, 1851, and first settled near Garnavillo. In 1863 they moved to Springfield in Grand Meadow Twp. Their name is on the original plat of Springfield. The town of Springfield was vacated when the railroad by-passed it. The farm was in Sec. 3, Grand Meadow. Ten children were born to them, one daughter passed away in infancy. 1. August D. Meyer b. Jan 28, 1853, d. Oct. 24, 1929. Married to Louise Schroeder of Volga b. June 15, 1854, d. July 28, 1940, five children. 2. Henry W. Meyer 1853-1916, married to Marie Margaretta Honn 1863-1932, seven children. 3. Margret Meyer May 12, 1855--May 1938, married to Frank Sebastian 1853-1930, eight children. 4. Herman F. Meyer July 10, 1857--Jan. 25, 1932. Married to Lena Carolyn Honn 1865-1956, six children. 5. David Meyer Sept. 25, 1860-Oct. 11, 1942. Married to Louisa Geltmeyer March 17, 1875-Oct 9, 1954. (See Schroeder article.) Four children. 6. William C. Meyer March 18, 1861--June 3, 1913. Married to Eda Reinke Oct 25, 1873-June 13, 1956, five children. (see article.) 7. John O. Meyer June 8, 1863-Dec. 20, 1953. Married Lena Nolte July 23, 1872-April 2, 1958, two children. 8. Louisa Meyer April 28, 1868-Nov. 19, 1937. Married to George Thoma Feb. 27, 1859-Sept. 25, 1938, seven children. 9. Sophia Meyer Aug. 20, 1873-Sept. 14, 1962. Married to Fred Schara Sept. 8, 1863-March 29, 1939, four children. Henry and Adelia Heins Meyer were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville, and are buried in Postville Cemetery. The Meyer name continues among the 1984 Grand Meadow farm families. Roger A. Meyer and wife, Laura Jones Meyer, and children, Eric and Eva. Also Roger's brother, Byron L., and wife, Eileen Goettelman Meyer, and their children, Stacey and Bradley, are fifth and sixth generation Meyer. Great-great-great-grandchildren of Henry and Adelia Heins Meyer. Roger and Byron are descendants of William C. Meyer (see his article).
