Mr. Aufenkamp was born Feb. 9, 1914, at Julian to Barney and Susie Pollard Aufenkamp. He was educated in the Julian Public Schools and grew to manhood there. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served with the 1165th Engineer Combat Battalion, and served in the Pacific and Asiatic theaters. He was discharged in 196. After his discharge he was employed by Western Union out of San Francisco, and later with the Board of Public Works at Auburn. He later returned to Western Union out of Dallas, Texas, where he also farmed and worked for the Burn and Skinner Cattle Company. He married Selma Kitzing at Lexinton. Mrs. Aufenkamp died in 1962. He retired in 1968 due to ill health. He lived at Edison until 1985 when he moved to the Nebraska Veterans Home. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Humphrey of Auburn and other relatives. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
