Funeral services were held Tuesday at one o'clock in the Lutheran church in Denison, conducted by Rev. Frese and the remains laid to rest in Morgan township cemetery. Henry Fred Marquardt was born Aug. 13, 1882 in Otter Creek township and passed his 30th birthday last fall. Here he lived with his parents until seven years ago, when he was united in marriage to Marie Miller. They lived on a farm near Denison for a number of years, but last spring moved to town, as Mr. Marquardt's health was not of the best so that they could spend the rest of their days in comfort. But an all wise Providence ruled otherwise, and his condition gradually grew worse, and in spite of all that loving hands and skilled physicians could do, his spirit passed from its earthly habitation into the house not made with hands. The passing of this fine citizen just in the prime of life, is not only a severe blow to his family and relatives but to his host of friends as well. But it is especially hard for his family, as in the past two years they have been visited by the grim reaper four times: his grandfather (Mr. Gehring), his father (Henry Marquardt), and his brother-in-law (Alfred Hollander), preceding him to the Great Beyond. In all his dealings with mankind he was honest, just and true, and in the home circle his life was ideal, his first and only thoughts being uppermost in his mind for the comfort and welfare of his family, to whom he was devoted. Life is ever thus, today everything is joy and happiness, tomorrow, only sadness and sorrow, but the devoted wife and son whom he left, can always look back with pleasure on the fine and beautiful life he had lived. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his untimely death, one son Leonard, his mother, Mrs. Henry Marquardt, three sisters, Mrs. Henry Hollander, Mrs. Alfred Hollander and Mrs. Dela Schroeder; three brothers, Frank, Eddie and Fred, and his aged grandmother, Mrs. Wm. Gehring. The many friends will extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family in their sorrow.
