Marquardt, nee Minnie Gehring, was born in Province Brandenburg, Germany, on June 19, 1863, and departed this life on December 15, 1938 at 5:30 am at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Schroeder and husband of Goodrich township, with whom she had made her home for the past year. Marquardt, nee Minnie Gehring, was born in Province Brandenburg, Germany, on June 19, 1863, and departed this life on December 15, 1938 at 5:30 am at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Schroeder and husband of Goodrich township, with whom she had made her home for the past year. She reached the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 26 days. Mrs. Marquardt was taken ill about two months ago and had been bedfast the past three weeks. Her family and friends did not realize the seriousness of her illness until recently, as she was uncomplaining and bore her suffering in silence. Mrs. Marquardt came to this country with her parents in 1869. Their first home was in Chicago, IL. Here she attended the public school and she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. H.H. Succop. The family came to Hanover township, Crawford County, in 1880 and she remained at home until her marriage on March 8, 1885 to P. H. Marquardt. This union was blessed with ten children, of whom three died in infancy and two in later life. She is survived by five children, namely, Anna, Mrs. Henry T. Hollander of Schleswig; Frank Marquardt of Charter Oak; Mamie, Mrs. Wm. Bumann of Denison; Adela, Mrs. Fred Schroeder of Goodrich Township; and Edward Marquardt of Otter Creek Township. Mr. and Mrs. Marquardt made their home on a farm in Otter Creek township until 1916, when they retired from farming and moved to Denison. Mr. Marquardt preceded his wife in death on April 30, 1921. She leaves to mourn her death the above named children, one brother, Wm. Gehring of Denison, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild and numerous other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon in charge of the Rev. C. W. Schmidt. The Ladies Aid, of which she had been a long member, attended in a body. Interment was made in the Morgan Township Cemetery.
