Fischer, a resident of Carroll county for 48 years died at the St. Anthony hospital Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. He had been sick for two weeks suffering with pneumonia, but had been in poor health for over two years. Mr. Fischer was born in Altonburg, Saxony, January 6, 1840, and came to America when 21 years old. His first residence in America was Chicago. Later he came to Carroll which has since been his home. Mr. Fischer was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Krueger in Chicago July 13, 1873. Henry G. Fischer was an untiring worker and through his own efforts amassed large farm holdings. He was a contractor and for years did bridge contract work for the county. For the last few years he was retired from business but kept busy looking after his large farm holdings. Of the 12 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Fischer, three preceded him in death. Mrs. Fischer died a few years ago and he is survived by his five daughters and four sons, namely: Mrs. W. Yarges, of Mason City; Margaret, of Mason City; Emelia, Augusta and Marie, of Carroll; W.J. Fischer, of Wallingford, Ia.; Arnold, Richard, and Amil of Carroll. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. All of the children will be present at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. W. Yarges, of Mason City, who is unable to come because of poor health. Funeral services will be held at the house Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Carroll cemetery.
