He was born Aug. 3, 1863 in the Cox Creek Township near Elkader, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dohrer. He married Dorothy Meyer in 1894 and they farmed near Volga until 1912. Then he moved to Volga, where he operated a service station for a number of years. He was active in civic affairs there. His wife died in 1928, and six years ago he went to live with his daughter. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Marie Elvers, of near St. Olaf; Mrs. Gretchen Abel, of Waterloo; Mrs. Florence Roys, of Volga, and Mrs. Dorothy Mattocks of Wadena, a sister Mrs. Kathryn Dittmer of Elkader, and one brother, William, of Eden, S.D.
