Description	:	Henry J. Burkett was born the 14th day of May, 1858, and died June the 15th, 1935, at, the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, at the age of 77 years, 1 month, 1 day. He was only sick twelve days and died as easy as a baby going to sleep. He was united in marriage to Margaret Belle Hatfield April 22, 1889, at Long Hollow, Virginia. He leaves to mourn: his wife and ten children: Albert Burkett of Fairbury, Mrs. Roy Thurber and Mrs. William Merrill of Nelson, Joe Burkett of Corvallis, Oregon, Bee Burkett, Mrs. Wilbur Whartman, Mrs. Harold Whartman of Oak, Mrs. Ruben Nelson of Ruskin, Grover and Virginia at home; 22 grand children, one brother A. B. Burkett of Angus, four sisters: Mrs. Mary Wyett, Mrs. Kate Patrick, in Marion, Virginia; Mrs. Lias Bicknell and Mrs. John, Wickersham of Oak; besides other relatives and friends. One sister, Mrs. Jim Underwood of Hoisington, Kansas, has passed on. He joined the Methodist Church at Long Hollow shortly after his marriage. He moved from Virginia to Nebraska in 1906 and lived around Oak and Nelson, farming until in February of 1932, when he moved to Ruskin, and that was his home at the time of his death. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and lived for his children. Dearest Father, thou has left us, And our loss we deeply feel, But it's God that has bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled, When in Heaven in Joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tear is shed. A short service was held at the home in Ruskin Tuesday afternoon. The remains were then taken to Oak, where funeral services were held in the Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. V. R. Daniels. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
