Description	:	Henry John Laschanzky, son of Jacob and Catherine Laschanzky, was born in German June 24, 1863. He was one year old when his parents came to this country. They came by sail boat. The sailors lost their course and were en route nearly eight weeks. Some of the children were almost starved when they landed. The family first located at Blue Grass, Ia. Read More	Henry John Laschanzky, son of Jacob and Catherine Laschanzky, was born in German June 24, 1863. He was one year old when his parents came to this country. They came by sail boat. The sailors lost their course and were en route nearly eight weeks. Some of the children were almost starved when they landed. The family first located at Blue Grass, Ia. Here they lived about eight years. At the age of nine, Mr. Laschanzky came with his parents to Fillmore County, Nebraska. They settled six miles northwest of Fairmont, March 18, 1885. He was united in marriage to Sophie Lentfer. They located on one of his father's farms four miles northwest of Fairmont. To this union nine children were born. they are Gus and Ernest of Fairmont, Mrs. Clara Eichstedt of Grafton, Sophie Cates of Exeter, Olga Hurst of Hollister, Cal., Will of Fairmont, Alice Wildman of Hollister, Cal., Henry of Fairmont and Harry of Grafton. There are twenty-six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In 1922 Mr. and Mrs. Laschanzky moved to Fairmont. Two years ago in March they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They received the congratulations and best wishes of their many friends. Mr. Laschanzky shared in the development of the country. He saw it grow from a prairie country to the fine improvements that have been achieved. While he did not enjoy the best of health during recent years, he was confined to his bed less than two weeks. He passed away Saturday night, December 18, 1937, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 24 days. He was a good husband and father. He leaves to mourn his going, his wife and children as given above; two sisters, Alvena Hartman o fHoldrege and Bertha Shultz of Sutton, other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the home Wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Isaac Cassel of the Federated Church officiating. The music was furnished by a quartet, Mamie Kemp, Mary Goodrich, Oliver Moul and W. E. Black. the pallbearers were Walt Lewis, Jake Kelch, Frank Peterson, Harry Gillen, Ross W. Dorrance and Fred Pearson. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
