Description	:	Henry Lee Carson was born March 13, 1860, in Williams County, Ohio. When two or three years of age, he moved with his parents to Steuben County, Indiana. He came with his parents to Nebraska in 1880, locating on a farm four miles southwest of Fairmont. He was first married to Miss Ella George, who died about a year after her marriage. Read More	Henry Lee Carson was born March 13, 1860, in Williams County, Ohio. When two or three years of age, he moved with his parents to Steuben County, Indiana. He came with his parents to Nebraska in 1880, locating on a farm four miles southwest of Fairmont. He was first married to Miss Ella George, who died about a year after her marriage. Mr. Carson returned to Steuben County, Indiana, and was there married September 5, 1888, to Miss Ida Brode. Seven children were born in to this home: Harry, Ora L., Mrs. Nellie Anderson, Frankie, Walter, Bertie and Lenore. The second child, Ora L., died December 29, 1894. The wife, six children, seven brothers and one sister survived the deceased. The sister is Mrs. Melinda Fellows of Geneva, Nebraska. The brothers are John and David of Steuben County, Indiana; W. I., R. M. and George of Geneva; O. C. of Omaha, and Jacob of Fairmont. Mr. Carson began business in Fairmont with his brother Jacob in the fall of 1896, since which time he has resided in this city. After one year, he purchased the interest of his brother and has since then conducted the business alone. He has been identified with the Star Route mail service most of the time for the last fifteen years. he has been for many years, a member of the Workmen lodge of Fairmont. Henry Carson was well known to the people of this community. Although dominated by a habit which rendered him a constant foe to himself, he was withal possessed of many excellent traits. He appreciated the friendship of the many who were his friends, and delighted in bestowing favors upon them. He was an affectionate husband and father, and none delighted more than he in hearing his children well spoken of. He died February 20, 1913, aged fifty-two years, eleven months and twenty one days. The funeral was held from the residence on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. DeWolf of Grace Methodist church, and interment was made in the Fairmont Cemetery. All of the relatives mentioned in this sketch were present except the two brothers, John and David of Indiana. The following has been contributed by Charles Grote: Henry Carson a Suicide -- While seated at the dinner table at his home in Fairmont at noon today, Henry Carson shot himself with a revolver and died instantly. He was about fifty years old and is survived by his wife and several children, two of whom are married. Mr. Carson has carried on a livery business in Fairmont for many years For several years he has had the contract for carrying the star route mail from Fairmont to Geneva and return, reaching Geneva about 7 a. m. every day in the week. He brought the mail as usual this morning. His son Harry is the rural carrier on Fairmont route No. 1, Henry was a brother of W. I., Robert and George Carson and Mrs. W. W. Fellows of Geneva.
