Born in Vance County on March 17, 1920, he was the son of the late John Washington West and Irene Ayscue West. He was a retired tobacco farmer and was the owner and operator of Henry Lee West Plumbing Co. Read More	The Daily Dispatch Obituary: HENDERSON - After a period of declining health, Henry Lee West, 80, of 1200 Weldon's Mills Rd., died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Vance County on March 17, 1920, he was the son of the late John Washington West and Irene Ayscue West. He was a retired tobacco farmer and was the owner and operator of Henry Lee West Plumbing Co. Mr. West was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and member of the brotherhood. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess and the Rev. Marshall Neathery. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Abbott West, of the home; two daughters, Brenda W. Hoyle and Vickie W. Watkins, both of Henderson; one sister, Doris W. McGhee of Henderson; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline W. Robertson and Lottie Mae Stainback; and one half-brother, Bobby West. The family will receive friends at the home. Active pallbearers will be Gordon Wilder, Richard Rogers, Sammy Franklin, Dick Pegram, Milton Stainback, Fenner Hughes, Red Stevenson, Preston Edwards, Bill Edwards, Butch Clayton, Sammy Roberson and Billy Stainback. Honorary pallbearers will be the Baptist Men of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Baptist Men's Ministry at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 1699 Weldon's Mill Road, Henderson, N.C 27537. Arrangements are by J.M. White Funeral Home.
