Jackson, born in Davis County, Iowa, March 6, 1864, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Canaday norwest [sic] of Birmingham around 5:00 a.m. this morning, at the age of 79 years. Jackson, born in Davis County, Iowa, March 6, 1864, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Canaday norwest [sic] of Birmingham around 5:00 a.m. this morning, at the age of 79 years. Jackson, a retired farmer, had been in failing health for sometime but his recent illness had lasted for only ten days. He was married to Zadie Sherod, November 6, 1884. She preceded him in death June 12, 1937. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive their parents. The surviving children include: Mrs. Altha Moore of Eldon, Mrs. Edna Canaday and Mrs. Etha Meek of Birmingham and Clarence Jackson of Ottumwa. One son, Earl died by drowning June 5, 1898 at the age of nine years. Jackson is also survived by two brothers, John and Will of Phillipsburg, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Birmingham at 2:00 Thursday afternoon, and burial will take place in Maple Hill cemetery beside his wife.
