Read More	Extracted Saturaday Globe Osklaoosa Iowa FATHER VERPLOEGH Henry Verploegh(sic) was born Feb 28, 1843 in the Netherlands, Europe , and died at his home in Mahaska county Iowa , Sept 10, 1916, aged 73 years, 6 months and 18 days. Mr. Verploegh(sic) cameto Pella, Iowa with his mother and four brothers. His father and a sister died on the way across the ocean. One brother died nine days after reaching Pella. He settled with his mother and three brothers four miles south of Pella where he lived until the age of 49 or until 1893 when he moved to the home he resided until his departure to his eternal home. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Van Zee, March 18, 1869. Mrs. Verploegh(sic)died Sept 6, 1871, leaving her husband and two small children. Feb 19, 1876, he married Miss Artie Van Arkel. To this marriage twelve children were born, of whom two died in infancy and two married daughters died, each leaving two children. Mr. Verploegh(sic) was the last one of seven brothers and five sisters.. He leaves his wife,four sons, six daughters and fifteen grandchildren to mourn their loss and a host of friends to miss him. Funeral services were held at the house Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Sept3, Rev.Van Dran and Rev.V. Hittes in charge and at Leighton at 1:30, Rev. Rozendal and Rev. Hittes in charge, after which the mortal remains were laid to rest in the Porterville cemetery to await the summons to come forth to meet the Lord in the air. Mr. Verploegh(sic)was a loving father, patient and unselfish in his home. He endured suffering without complaint and even to the last he was considerate of others, prefering their wish and comfort to his own. Thru the months the dread disease was tightening its grip upon his body, he was ready and willing to depart and be with the Lord. He left the heritage, a blessed memory, of his having taught that we are here to prepare for the world beyond and that preparation is only through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. Henry was married first to Elizabeth Van Zee 1884-1871. Parents of Aartie 1870-1955 and son Conrad 1871-1938 He married second, Aartje Van Arkel. His other three son were Henry J 1878-1950 (never married) John 1886-1971(married Fern Stanley) and James Lester 1894-1955 (never married)
