Honorary casket bearers were Don Riesberg, Irwin Riesberg, Clarence Hausman, LaVern Riesenberg, Clarence Eischeid, Maurice Potthoff, Ray Schaeuble, Wayne Rupiper, Virgil Williams, Jim White, Dave Musfeldt, Merle Potthoff and Leon Naberhaus. Casket bearers were Gene Langel, Tom Loughran, Mark Schenkelberg, Charles Eich, Randy Eischeid, Jeff Irlmeier, Loran Sporrer and Bob Eich. Members of Ehlers-Gerken Post 694 of the Arcadia American Legion served as military honor guard. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery at Halbur. Twit Funeral Home in Carroll was in charge of arrangements. Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Halbur, Mr. Eich was a son of Charles and Anna (Reinart) Eich. He graduated from St. Augustine School in Halbur and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, including 18 months in Germany. He was a lifetime farmer in the Halbur area. He was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Halbur, Ehlers-Gerken American Legion Post 694 of Arcadia and the Holy Name Society. Mr. Eich is survived by a brother, Ray Eich, of Halbur; seven sisters, Sister Ricarda, O.S.F., of Mount St. Francis in Dubuque, Evelyn Langel of Templeton, Lucy Irlmeier of Manning, Helen Eischeid of Halbur, Sally Schenkelberg and her husband, Jerry, of Carroll, Kay Loughran of Breda and Mildred Sporrer of Manning; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alvin Eich; two sisters, Anna, in infancy, and Loretta Eich; two sisters-in-law, Thelma and Marie Eich; and five brothers-in-law, Adolph Langel, Leo Irlmeier, G.V. Eischeid, John Loughran and Lawrence Sporrer.
