Read More	The Wheatland Gazette, November 1918 Herbert Klahn was born in Wheatland, April 24, 1900, and passed away Nov. 14th , 1918, at the age of 18 years, 6 months and 20 days. He attended the public schools until at the age of 14 years, ill health compelled him to give up his school work and remain at home under medical care. For the past four years he has fought tubercular trouble, aided to the utmost by the best of care and comfort by his devoted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Klahn. The past summer found him in improving health and much hope was entertained for his ultimate recovery. Then suddenly he was seized with influenza and in his condition he proved too weak to successfully combat it and he was finally released from all his earthly trouble. He was a young man of quiet, home loving habits, a favorite among his best friends and all the neighbors, and his death causes a vacancy in the home that can never be filled. He leaves to mourn him his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Richard Parr, of Lowden; Mrs. A. G. Meier, of Wheatland and Miss Dora at home here; and four brothers, Herman, Fred and Arthur of this place and Walter, who is with the colors somewhere in France. He had watched eagerly for his soldier brother's letters home and also for his home-coming, and it seems doubly hard that he was unable to realize his fondest wish. Peace forever more to him who has gone from us. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Bollmann, of the German Reformed church, followed by interment in the Low German cemetery northwest of town.
