Herbert was born July 28, 1928 in Earlville, IA, the son of Mathius and Carolyn (Herzog) Meyers. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Korean War. Herbert was born July 28, 1928 in Earlville, IA, the son of Mathius and Carolyn (Herzog) Meyers. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Korean War. On April 22, 2009, he married Lois A. (Wilson) Hogan in Waverly, IA and she preceded him in death on January 4, 2022. Herb was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, IA and Prince of Peace Catholic Church in North Muskegon, MI. He was also a member of the VFW #8846 and the American Legion. Herb enjoyed golfing and had scored 7 hole-in-one's during his golfing career. Herb began bowling at age 12 and had been inducted into the Peterson Classic Hall of Fame Bowling Tournament. Survivors include his daughter, Laura (Jay) Saunders of Pella, IA; 2 grandchildren, Matthew Saunders, Adam (Shian) Saunders; 1 great-grandson, Garrett Saunders; and numerous extended family. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Meyers; his parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m.,on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Waverly. Memorials may be directed to Herbert's family for later designation.
