Description	:	Herbert LeRoy Hotchkiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hotchkiss, was born in Prophetstown, Ill., on Dec. 12,1896. He died at his home in Marathon on Feb. 4, 1972, at the age of 75 years, one month and 26 days. His marriage to Clara Boehm was at Jackson, Minn., on March 29, 1919. Herb had lived at Marathon for the past 43 years. For 26 of these years he was an employee of the Buena- Vista county maintenance. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years.... Read More	Herbert LeRoy Hotchkiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hotchkiss, was born in Prophetstown, Ill., on Dec. 12,1896. He died at his home in Marathon on Feb. 4, 1972, at the age of 75 years, one month and 26 days. His marriage to Clara Boehm was at Jackson, Minn., on March 29, 1919. For two years he served as commander of the William Hartman Post 12 and for the past five years was Post chaplain. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Pauline, Mrs. Bernard Mortenson and Harriett, Mrs. Don Mortenson, both of Sioux Rapids and Naomi, Mrs. Floyd Fitsimmons of Marathon; three sons, Hartley of Woodridge, Va., Milton of Red Wing, Minn., and Byron of Laurens; three brothers, Harlan Pierce, Hollandale, Fla.; Ray Pierce, Toledo, Ohio; and Ed Pierce of Michigan; four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Wildfeuer, Fulda, Minn.; Mrs. Gladys Berger, Alexandria, Minn ; Mrs. DeEtta Dunn and Mrs. Marietta Zivak, both of Toledo, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
