Description	:	Herman Peelen Dies Suddenly Mr. Herman Peelen died Saturday evening at 11:33 3P.M. at the LeMars Hospital. He died at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 18 days. Mr. Peelen was born in the Netherlands September 8, 1873 and came to America with his parents at the age of 11. He had enjoyed good health until Friday morning at which time he was suddenly taken ill. Mr. Peelen was born in the Netherlands September 8, 1873 and came to America with his parents at the age of 11. Mr. Herman Peelen leaves to mourn his wife, nee Engelina Te Grotenhuis, to whom he was married on February 15, 1900, and the following children: Jacob H. Peelen of Henderson, Nevada; Jeanette Mrs. Frank Punt, of Sioux Center; Dr. Matthew and Dr. John. Wm. Peelen, both of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Anna Marie, and Grace, Mrs. Sam Schut of Sioux Center; Arthur Peelen of Grand Rapids and Leona, Mrs. Henry A. Vermeer of Hudsonville, Michigan and 20 grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister, Gerrit and John Peelen of Sheldon and Hattie, Mrs. Jake Hoeven, of Long Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by one brother Arend of Archer May 17, 1924 and two sisters, Mrs. T. Van Heukelum, August 8, 1920 and Mrs, John Postma of Sioux Center August 5, 1909. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon March 1, 1949 at the home and at the First Reformed Church. Rev. P.A. De Jong officiated at the services. Special music was furnished by the Vermeer brothers - John, Elmer, Kenneth, and Gerald, who .sang "In the Cross of Christ I Glory" and "Never Alone". Burial took place in the local cemetery and acting as pallbearers were six: nephews - John R. Peelen, Jacob Peelen, Elmer Den Herder, Bernard Van Heukelum, Gershom Van Roekel and William Te Grotenbuis. Here for the services from a distance were Dr. and Mrs. Matt Peelen and Dr. & Mrs. Wm. Peelen from Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Ruth Peelen and 2 sons of Grand Rapids, Mr: and Mrs. Art Peelen and three children of Grand Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vermeer and family of Hudsonvilie, Michigan.
