Bio furnished by Michael Heinrich #47529375 ======================================================= The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Feb 2, 1940 - pg. 1 Hermon Boynton Hermon, son of Joab and Helen Matilda Boynton, was born August 10, 1859, at Palermo, Maine, and departed this life January 25, 1940, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 15 days. He came to Nebraska with his parents in May 1872, and settled in Clay County and was educated in the Edgar schools. On July 1, 1883, he was united in marriage to Eva Jane Walroth. Two children were born to this union, Elbridge H. of Angus, Nebraska, and Mrs. Helen Ridgway of Fairfield, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter, seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren, one step-sister, Mrs. Vesta Beck of Beatrice, Nebraska and a foster sister, Mrs. Blanche Lyman of Gresham, Oregon, besides a host of friends who will mourn his loss. His parents, a brother, Augustus, and one granddaughter preceded him in death. Mr. and Mrs. Boynton celebrated their golden wedding anniversary July 1, 1933, at their home near Edgar where they have resided for the past 54 years. Dear father, we will miss you, your tender love and care; but you have gone to a fairer home where there is no pain or sorrow, and God's great love you'll share, with all your loved ones you'll be united. It's goodnight here, but good morning up there, in that beautiful city four square, where sickness and sorrow have no share, only rest, and peace in God's tender love and care. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 27, 1940, at the home at 2:00 o'clock and at 2:30 at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond Rush in charge. Pallbearers were: Ralph McKinney, Cecil Strawser, M. E. Cushing, J. G. Walley, Frank Bishop and Wm. Reid. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery.
