Description	:	Mrs. C. Thompson Final Rites Final rites were conducted for Mrs. Claude Thompson at the Thabor Lutheran Church on February 11th at 2 p.m. with Pastor Hoyt Whitebread officiating. Mrs. John El Dorado was the organist for the day and accompanied Mrs. Dale Johnson, who sang, "How Great Thou Art." Knute Carlson, Don Pfeil, and Melvin Rosen were the ushers. Pallbearers were Sterling Peterson, Richard Skalberg, James Skalberg, Sheldon Lind, Perry Emmons, and Neville Johnson. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery and arrangements were by James T. Scott Funeral Chapel. Hildur Lurine Larson was born to Selma Swanson Larson and Oscar O. Larson on October 19, 1897 at Wausa. She received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on November 19, 1897 in Thabor Lutheran Church. On May 5, 1912 she received the Rite of Confirmation in the Lutheran Church. When a young girl she moved with her parents to homestead near Fairfax, South Dakota where she began her schooling. Later she completed her schooling in the Wausa schools after her parents moved back to this area. After continuing and completing Normal Training Courses at Lutheran College and Wayne State she taught Rural Schools in the Wausa community. On May 11, 1917, she was united in marriage to David E. Skalberg at Wausa, Nebraska. To this union were born four children, Rachel (Mrs. Albin W. Anderson), Donald, Virgil, and Leland. After briefly farming in Minnesota, the family returned to Wausa to farm until the death of her husband in 1932. In 1942, she was married to Claude Thompson and they lived in their home in Wausa ever since. She was a very active member of Thabor Lutheran Church, a 25 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, of the Wausa Women's Club, and the Valley View Auxiliary. She worked 25 years at the Office Cafe. Survivors include her husband, Claude, Wausa, her children, Rachel, Wausa, Donald, of Wausa, Virgil of Los Angeles, California, and Leland of Yankton, South Dakota, fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several step-sisters and step-brothers besides a host of friends and relatives. At the time of her death on February 8, 1975, she had reached the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 21 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, and one grandchild.
