Description	:	DONALD SKALBERG Services were held for Donald Skalberg, 81, of Wausa, Nebraska, Monday, April 16, at the Methodist Church in Wausa, Nebraska. The Rev. Sharon Stevens officiated. Interment was at the Lutheran Cemetery at Wausa, Nebraska. Don died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the Osmond General Hospital. Donald Burdette Skalberg was born January 3, 1920, in Ulen, Minnesota to David and Hildur Skalberg. He moved to Wausa with his parents in 1924. He was confirmed at Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa, Nebraska. He later became a member of the United Methodist Church. Don served in the Army during World War 11 with the 807th Tank Destroyer Battalion. On August 17, 1946, he married Wilma West. In September 1949, Don purchased his first truck and began his trucking business. He retired from trucking after being in the business for about 30 years. Don served on the Wausa Town Board, the FHA Board, and was a Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Wausa. On June 9, 1979, he married Judy Strom. On December 21, 1982, Don was united in marriage with Betty Claussen. They resided in Wausa until his time of death. Don is survived by his wife, Betty, three daughters, Donna Wilson and her husband Jim of Moreno Valley, California, Alice Coke and her husband Mickey of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Mylet Hitz of Norfolk. Other survivors include two brothers Virgil Skalberg of California and Leland Skalberg of Yankton, South Dakota; three grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Also mourning the loss are Betty's children, Lois and Mike Enevoldsen of Tempo, Arizona, Gerald Clausen of Wausa, Nebraska, and Roger and Becky Clausen of Nebraska City and their families. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rachel Anderson. Information from the Wausa Newspaper sent to me by Judy Carlson, April 12, 2001.
