Description	:	Hiram Henry was born to David and Abigail Woodbury Henry in Geauga County, Ohio in 1829. He spent a part of his youth in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he married Mary Ann Wolfe in 1851. His occupation was a shoemaker. Hiram and Mary Ann had five children: Caroline Cummins Henry (m: Joseph Duncan), Isaac Carlos Henry (m: Hattie Burk, Margie Anderson, Minnie Legg), David Henry (killed by a horse as a teen), Hiram Henry, Jr. (m: Elenora Mae Miller), and Mary Ann Henry (m: Charles Burt). Hiram and Mary Ann had five children: Caroline Cummins Henry (m: Joseph Duncan), Isaac Carlos Henry (m: Hattie Burk, Margie Anderson, Minnie Legg), David Henry (killed by a horse as a teen), Hiram Henry, Jr. (m: Elenora Mae Miller), and Mary Ann Henry (m: Charles Burt). Hiram enlisted in the Civil War cause first with the Pennsylvania 9th, Company B, also known as the "Brady Alpines." Alden Henry, likely his brother, enlisted with him. He reenlisted while a resident of East Cleveland Ohio, with Company G of the Ohio 67th. He was killed by gunshot during the campaign for Charleston Harbor, during the Second Siege of Fort Wagner, on Morris Island the night of July 18, 1863 (the battle made famous in the film "Glory.") A brief 'cease fire' was called the next morning to cover both Union and Confederate dead with sand on the beach, along the Atlantic tide line. Those bodies have long been washed out to sea. None of the people killed in action that night, were recovered or given burials. Hiram's second-great grandaughter, Jann Henry, made the arrangements for a Veteran's Civil War cenotaph, to be placed alongside his wife Mary Ann, and son David. His son Hiram Henry, Jr., is buried in the 'Pioneer Circle;' his son Isaac Henry, is buried at Brookville Cemetery; daughter Mary Ann HENRY Burt, is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit, Mitchell County; and eldest daughter Caroline HENRY Duncan, in the mausoleum in Gypsum Hill cemetery, in Salina, Kansas. His wife, Mary Ann Wolfe, moved with her young children from Ohio in July 1869, to homestead in Northeast Ellsworth County, alongside George Wilson Miller.
