Howard was born January 1, 1923 in Pittsburg, Kansas to George and Edna (Holt) Farrimond. He attended schools in Pittsburg, graduating from Pittsburg High School. Howard served his country, during W.W. II, in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945 in Norman, Oklahoma, as an Electricians Mate Third Class. On September 3, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kansas, he married Betty Joyce McAnally. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2003. Howard worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Howard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. He belonged to the VFW in Pittsburg. Howard was a gunsmith for over 40 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He also repaired clocks. He is survived by his daughter Sydney Jill Jones and her husband David of Pittsburg, Kansas; grandson Chad Jones and his wife Patti of Little Rock, Arkansas; along with 4 great grandchildren Stephanie, Cade, Ethan and Luke Jones. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jo-Lynn Farrimond and brother George Farrimond. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, Kansas with Rev. Kathleen Owsley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery, where flag folding ceremonies will be given by the United States Naval Military Funeral Honors.
