Description	:	Hubert Clayton Clark Sr. was born in Melborne, Iowa. He was the 10th child of Ambrose Ruddle and Mary Lucinda Jennings Clark. Hubert quit school in the 8th grade to help support his family. Hubert married Aurliene Marrian Crossland September 2, 1938 in Knoxville, Iowa. Hubert was 20 and Aurliene was 15. They moved to Burlington, Iowa both worked for the ordiance plant in that area. Moving back to Des Moines, Iowa they purchased a home 3701 E. 39 th. St. They lived there until 1954 and moved to their new home in September of 1955... Read More	Hubert Clayton Clark Sr. was born in Melborne, Iowa. He was the 10th child of Ambrose Ruddle and Mary Lucinda Jennings Clark. Hubert quit school in the 8th grade to help support his family. Hubert married Aurliene Marrian Crossland September 2, 1938 in Knoxville, Iowa. Hubert was 20 and Aurliene was 15. They moved to Burlington, Iowa both worked for the ordiance plant in that area. Moving back to Des Moines, Iowa they purchased a home 3701 E. 39 th. St. They lived there until 1954 and moved to their new home in September of 1955 on 4115 S. E. 15th St. All three of Hubert's children were born when they lived at the 39th St. address. Hubert passed away July 28th 1987 at Perry Nursing Home in Perry, Iowa. He had a brain injury in a fall at his home in May of 1985 and resided at this nursing home and one in Des Moines earlier. At Hubert's side at his death were his two devoted sister's Melva Schultz and Ada Antomori of Des Moines. Services were held Friday July 31st, 1987 at Hamilton's Southside Funeral Home at 10AM with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Hubert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years Aurliene in 1984. He was survived by his Daughter...Sandra Kay Cornelius Oakley, California.... Hubert Jr ( Herb) of St. Louis, Missouri, George of Des Moines. Grandchildren: Lance, Lynn and Lisa Clark of St. Louis, Missouri Sandy Kay Cornelius of Oakley, California, Todd, Melinda and Michelle Clark of Des Moines, and Rebecca Ann Ihnen of South Dakota and one great grand daughter Kelsey Rae Ihnen. Hubert is also survived by 3 sisters... Alta Mickesh, Melva Schultz and Ada Antomori all of Des Moines, Iowa. Hubert was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He was member and a Deacon at East Douglas Ave. Christian Church. Hubert played semi-pro baseball in the 1930's and was Manager of Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues that his son's played on in the 1950's and 60's. Hubert was an ardent St. Louis Cardinal fan, and a supportive fan of the Chicago Cubs. Hubert also, like to hunt and fish and would take trips out west in the fall to go deer hunting. Hubert retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co in 1979 after 34 years at the Des Moines plant.
