Lovett, prominent Eureka ciziten, aged 65, died at his home here yesterday morning from heart disease. Mr. Lovett arose at his usual hour and after breakfast went out into the yard for a short time, then returned to the house, going up stairs to change his clothes. While thus engaged he was strickened and medical aid was immendiately summoned, but he passed away before a physician arrived. He suffered an attack a week ago, but rallied after a few moments and apparently was in his usual health throughout the week. None but the immediate family knew of his previous illness and he refused acknowledge his condition as serious. Mr. Lovett was a leader in all civic matters and gave unsparingly of his time, talent and means to every worthy cause. He was chairmand of the Liberty Loan Committee durning the World War and rendered conspicuous service in all patriotic enterprises. He has served as president of the Greenwood Fair Association, as president of the Greenwood County Cattlemens' Association, and as county commissioner for two terms. He was a director of the Eureka Bank at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and three children, Claude Lovett, of Bachelor township; Mrs. Wm. J. Barber, of Oklahoma City, and Dr. H. M. Lovett, who died at his home in Eureka, Sunday, May 20, was held for the Methodist Church here Tuesday morning. Seldom, is ever has the passing of a local citizen caused such universal sorrow. Mr. Lovett served two terms as county commissioner of Greenwood county, was president of the Greenwood County Fair Association, a dictor of the Eureka Bank and held other position of responsibility. Hugh Albertus Lovett was born in Ohio December 3, 1862, and came to Kansas with his parents when a small boy. He was united in marriage to Miss Hattie C. Turney at Neal on August 29, 1893. Mr. and Mrs. Lovett made their home in Neal for a time, later moving to their farm in Bachelor township where they resided until 1908 when they came to Eureka. To this union three children were born, Claude Lovett, of Bachelor township; Mrs. Wm. J. Barber, of Oklahoma City; Dr. H.M. Lovett, of Eureka.
