Mr. Woodburn was born May 3, 1918, in Sedgewick, Colo., the son of Hugh and Ivas Case Woodburn. He married Dorothy Lucille Lynn May 24, 1942, in Memphis, Mo. She died April 13, 2000. He was a farmer in the Locust Grove Township near Abingdon and had lived most of his life in the Abingdon and Batavia communities. One of his pastimes was camping and he was a member of the Winniekorns, a mobile home club. Survivors include: one son, Dennis Sterling Woodburn of Batavia; and two daughters, Carolyn Rae Klaus of Ames and Marla Sue Lagoski of Leavenworth, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Rose Dailey of Batavia, Agnes Steele of Lockridge, Margaret Bandilla of Sacramento, Calif., and Mabel Leedom of Ankeny. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; one infant son, Darrell (sic. correct name was Daryl); one brother, Robert Woodburn; and one sister, Ivas Schmitter. ---------- Note: Son Daryl Lynn Woodburn is buried in Memorial Lawn cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. At some point a pre-need headstone was put in place beside him for Hugh Sterling Woodburn and Dorothy Lucille Lynn Woodburn, evidently anticipating their burial in the same plot. That headstone remains as of May 26, 2013, but Hugh and Dorothy are physically buried in Batavia cemetery as per their respective obituaries.
