Edward Miller is the son of Mr. Miller of Bowens Prairie, and is an unassuming yet industrious young man, and in the battle of life before him he will no doubt prove his metal, Of the bride, Miss Ida, little need be said. She has a large circle of friends in the country, as well as in town, and the just estimate of her worth is easily given. She will prove a valuable helpmeet to her husband. Ida A. was 21 years 2 months 5 days at her passing. She was the wife of Edward Miller, Daughter of Hugh Kidd--baby in coffin with mother. DIED Miller—At her home near Monticello, on the 20th day of March, 1884, Mrs. Ida Miller, wife of Edward Miller. Mrs. Miller was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kidd of this city. She was born in Clinton county, New York, on the 21st day of January, 1863, came with her parents to Jones county in February, 1869, and was married to Mr. Miller on the 27th day of September, 1882. On the 18th of last month she gave birth to a child, and the illness caused thereby resulted in her death. Mrs. Miller was a bright, healthy, beautiful woman, of the most kindly and affectionate disposition, and was a great favorite with all who knew her. She and Mr. Miller both realized that "Life is real! life is earnest!" and that genuine enjoyment and prosperity could come only through well directed labor. Not rich in this world's goods, but rich in each others affection, rich in health and a determination to do and win,they entered upon the duties of their married life full of hope. To them the future was bright and beautiful. But alas! in an hour when their joy was complete, when the bands that united and made them one were doubly sealed by the birth of a child, death entered their home, and where yesterday was unbounded joy and happiness, to-day is darkness and despair, Mrs. Miller belonged to no church, but a life of purity and good deeds had fully prepared her for the great ordeal of death. For a day or two before her demise, she was conscious that she could not recover, She talked of it calmly and expressed an abiding faith that in the great future all would be well with her. She disposed of numerous keepsakes, and gave minute directions as to her funeral. A short time before her death, she called for her child. Looking at it a moment, she said; "it cannot live; I shall take it with me." It survived her only a few hours, and was buried in the same coffin with her. The funeral took place at the Methodist church on Monday, and the funeral sermon was delivered by Rec. A.S. Cochran, pastor of that church. Monticello Express April 3, 1884 page 8
