Overing Jr. at Hettinger, North Dakota, early in the week. Read More	DEATH OF Mrs. Hugh Kidd Mary Jane Kidd, the widow of the late Hugh Kidd, for many years a resident of Monticello and vicinity, died at the home of W.A. Overing Jr. at Hettinger, North Dakota, early in the week. Her body was brought to Monticello, today, and the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the local Methodist Episcopal Church, of which the decedent had been a member. Mrs. Kidd had been a semi-invalid for many years. Several years ago, when she and her husband needed the care of a relative, they went west where they might be near their nephew, R. M. Calkins, now vice-president of the C.M. & St. P. Ry. Co., who was then stationed at Seattle. Since the death of Mr. Kidd, she had resided with her nephew, W. A. Overing Jr. at Hettinger, North Dakota. Mrs. Kidd, whose maiden name was Mary Jane Overing, was born at Cowell's Manner, Canada, June 5, 1842. At the age of sixteen she removed with her parents to New York State where she taught school for several years. She was married to Hugh Kidd at Utica, New York, October 28, 1861. After a residence of four or five years at Melville and Hyde Park, Massachusetts, Mrs. And Mrs. Kidd came to Iowa, and settled on a farm two miles north of Monticello. After living there nine years they moved to town. Mr. and Mrs. Kidd are survived by no children. They had one daughter, a lovely young woman who became the wife of Edward Miller, a son of Mrs. Alfred Miller of this city. She died soon after marriage at the age of twenty-one years. Mrs. Kidd was a motherly woman who gave of her help and sympathy to her neighbors who might be in need of either, so long as she was able to do so. She was of a jovial and sociable disposition during the years of health, and until and after disease had made its painful inroads, she took a sympathetic interest in the success of those about her, and for those in need of help "she did what she could."
