Description	:	Mrs. Ida Moates, 71, a pioneer resident of this community died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at her home northwest of Sciola. Death was caused by complications which followed an attack of influenza that had confined her to her bed for the last two weeks. She had been in poor health for a year. Death was caused by complications which followed an attack of influenza that had confined her to her bed for the last two weeks. She had been in poor health for a year. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Villisca Methodist Church and were conducted by the Rev. C. F. Smith of Red Oak, a former pastor, at Holmes Chapel. He was assied by the Rev. Martin H. Keast of Villisca. Music selections were given by a mixed quartet. The pall bearers were Charles, Earl, Ira, Clarence, and Bernard Moates and Clint Cooney. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery by the side of her husband. Mrs. Moates, whose maiden name was Ida Ann McCue, was born April 14, 1861 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McCue, and with her parents moved to Jones County, Iowa, when 3 years of age. The family later moved to Linn county, Iowa, and when she was 12 years old, they moved to Montgomery County, where she resided since. She was married December 24, 1882 to Charles Frederick Moates and they established their home on the farm now owned by C. A. Danielson, which was then near the pioneer home of Mr. Moates’s parents They lived there until January 1, 1904, when they moved to Villisca, where Mr. Moates and sons Charles and Orie, operated a livery barn until March 1, 1906, and they then moved to the farm where she resided at her death. Mrs. Moates was an active member of the Methodist Church at Holmes Chapel as long as the organization continued and then transferred her membership to the Villisca Methodist Church. Mrs. Moates was the mother of six children and also reared one grandson, Bernard R. Moates. She is survived by four sons and one daughter, who are Charles A. of Plainview, Nebraska, Mrss. Mary Cooney, William Earl, Ira J. and Clarence M. all of this community. She also leaves two sisters, Cora Hutchin and Dora Culver of Carson, South Dakota, and Henry McCue of Morton Mills, She is survived also by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died November 30, 1931 and one son, Orie, who died November 24, 1918, by two sisters Mollie and Alice, two brothers, Dave and John, and one grandson, Stanley Moates who died when 2 years old. Mr and Mrs. Charles Moates and daughter Doris, of Plainview, Nebraska arrived Sunday evening and were among the relatives from a distance who were here for the funeral rites.
