Moody, of Mankato, and Mrs. Ida C. Gray, of Leonard, Shelby county, Missouri, were united in marriage by Rev. Hill, pastor of the Methodist church of DeWitt. About twenty-five guests, relatives and friends of the bride, were present, national bank examiner Nelson and Mrs. Young accompanying the couple to the altar. Hon. Chas. H. Moody has been an honored citizen of Jewell county since 1871. He was once nominated for the office of state senator for this district and has twice been honored with the nomination for congress in the Sixth district, once on the Greenback ticket and once by the Union Labor party. He is an honest, sincere and gifted gentleman and has hundreds of loyal friends all over this part of Kansas who rejoice with him in his happiness. The bride, while a stranger in this vicinity, is a lady of education and refinement, the daughter of W. A. Vandiver, of Shelbyville, Missouri, a civil war veteran and a prominent citizen of his county. Mr. and Mrs. Moody arrived in Mankato Sunday evening and, we are very glad to know, will make their home in this city where we trust that many years of happiness and prosperity are in store for them. The Western Advocate, Mankato, Kansas, 05 May 1905, Fri • Page 1, Column 3 STROKE IS FATAL TO IDA MOODY, 78 Mrs. Ida Catherine Moody, 78, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Garnett of 221 North Thirty-fourth street early Monday following a 10-day illness due to a paralytic stroke. Born at Shelbyville, Mo., on March 6, 1858, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs William A. Vandlver. She spent most of her early life in Missouri and was married to Charles Henry Moody at DeWitt, Mo., in the spring of 1905. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Moody lived in Kansas until his death about 25 years ago. Mrs. Moody later made her home in Kansas City and came to Billings about a year and a half ago from St. Louis, where she had been living with another daughter, Mrs. C. P. Staats. Besides her two daughters, she is survived by a son, L. J. Garnett of Turley, Okla. The children are all of a former marriage. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. C. W. Anderson of Berkeley, Cal., three brothers, Charles Vandiver of St. Louis, and William G. and Ben Vandiver of Leonard, Mo., and by four grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Smith's funeral chapel, with the Rev. H. W. Hunter of the First Christian church officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Scott Cook, Mrs. L. R. Lyons. Harry D. Fitch and Frank F. Thompson, accompanied by Mrs. W. L. Beaumont, sang "No Night There" and "Face to Face." Besides her daughter here, she is survived by another daughter, a son, a sister, three brothers and four grandchildren. The body is being sent to Leonard, Mo., for burial.
