She was baptized as an infant and in May 1880 was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Sweden. IDA NELSON Ida Christine Anderson was born in Fjärestad Parish, Malmöhus Län, Sweden, on Nov. 19, 1865. She was baptized as an infant and in May 1880 was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Sweden. In 1884 she came to America, arriving here during the summer and first making her home at Weldon, Illinois. On December 31, 1887, she was united in marriage with Mr. Nels Nelson, at Greenview, Illinois. The family home was established at Greenview which became the home of the Nelsons for the first five years of their married life. In the spring of 1893 Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and family moved to the Dayton community where they first lived on a farm west of town. In Feb. 1918, they moved to Dayton which remained Mrs. Nelson's home for the next 30 years. In November 1948, Mrs. Nelson went to Boone to make her home at the Evangelical Free Church Home for the Aged. A little over a year ago she was taken to the Iowa Lutheran Home for the Aged at Madrid, where she spent the remainder of her days. Mrs. Nelson passed away at the Iowa Lutheran Home for the Aged last Thursday evening, May 17, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 28 days. A number of years ago she became badly crippled with arthritis and the past few years has been confined to her wheel chair. About a year ago she became seriously ill, but rallied to recover, but has been bedfast much of the time since then, but was again able to be about in her wheel chair when she became seriously ill on April 21. She submitted to surgery and the operation was successful. However, in her advanced age and weakened condition she did not recover her strength and passed away at Iowa Lutheran Home last Thursday evening. Mrs. Nelson is survived by three daughters: Mrs. May Hanson, of Dayton, Miss Ruth Nelson, of Des Moines, and Ruby, Mrs. Carl Johnson, of Des Moines. Five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive as do other elatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1935, and a daughter, Hannah, in 1904. Mrs. Nelson, a life-long Lutheran, has been a member of this church many years. Peace be to the memory of Ida Christine Nelson!
