Ida Florence Coe, daughter of Nancy and Jacob Coe, was born Aug. 3, 1880 at Mapleton, Ia. At the age of four years, she accompanied her parents, brother and sister to Nebraska. The journey was made in a covered wagon drawn by oxen. They homesteaded near Middlebranch west of Creighton. When she was 10 years old the family moved to Creighton. She finished school here and taught three years in rural schools. On Nov. 18, 1903 she was united in marriage to Roy R. Mitchell at her parents' home in Creighton. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1953. Six daughters and one son were born to them, all of whom survive. Mrs. Mitchell was a faithful member of the Methodist Church for 62 years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge for 40 years and of the WSCS for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sister, one in infancy. Surviving are her husband of Creighton; one son, Robert of Storm Lake, Ia; six daughters, Mrs. Frank (Jessie) Weaver and Mrs. Leonard Wortman of Creighton, Mrs. Hoge (Iva) Frady of Neligh, Mrs. John (Eileen) Kazos of Yankton, S.D., Mrs. Ray (Janice) Warner of Oakdale and Mrs. Delmar (Helen) Nissen of Plainview; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild and one brother, James F.
