Coe, another of the pioneers of this city. His passing was due to Bright's disease, following a several weeks illness. All that loving hands, careful nursing and medical science could do was bestowed upon him, but seemingly to no avail and his soul went out to the Great Redeemer on Wednesday morning at 6:30 a the age of 77 years, 7 months and 23 days. The deceased was born on July 4, 1851 in Ohio. He was married to Miss Nancy M. Rickey on March 5, 1873 in that state. This union was blessed with four children, three daughters and one son. They are Mrs. Roy Mitchell of Creighton; Mrs. Clint Hamilton, McCook, Nebr.; and one daughter, deceased, who died in infancy and James Coe of Kearney, Nebr. Mr. Coe also leaves two brothers, George of Spokane, Wash. and Allen of Mapleton, Iowa and ten grandchildren. In 1873 they moved to Iowa and in the year 1884 they came to Knox county and took up a homestead and passed through all the trying experiences and hardships incidental to pioneer life. Later they moved to Creighton and Mr. Coe operated the Creighton flour mill for a number of years and also the lower mill at Bazile Mills for a period of two years. The remaining years of his life was spent in Creighton, where he had been engaged as a painter, with the exception of two years which he spent at McCook, with his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Clint Hamilton and family. Mr. Coe was a man of noble character and probity. His long residence in Creighton, together with his remarkable personality have made it possible for him to come into contact with many hundreds of people and he enjoyed the respect and friendship of everyone with whom he had an acquaintance. He was a member of Creighton Masonic lodge, which fraternity will take part in the interment services at the cemetery. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be in charge of the pastor, Rev. Benj. Kuhler. The remains will be laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery beside his wife, who passed on in 1919. The many friends of the deceased with whom the News desires to be remembered are united in extending condolences of a sincere nature to those who mourn.
