Long time resident of Decatur, at the city auditorium with Elder Ira Lewis officiating, assisted by Merle Mann. The hymns, Old Rugged Cross and Beautiful Isle of somewhere, were sung by Mrs. Evelyn Miller and daughter, Mrs. Ethelyn Brewer, accompanied by Inger Adair. Ida May Farrens, eldest child of John and Ellen Bare, Was born at Osceola, Iowa, May 1 1868, and passed away at her home in Decatur, June 30, 1954, at the age of 86 years, one month and 29 days. She came to Burt county with her parents in 1875 and was united in marriage to Josephus Farrens at Decatur March 20, 1893. To this union four children were born, Roy, Bryan, Ethel and Glen. Mr. and Mrs. Farrens resided on a farm southeast of Decatur near Lake Quinnebaugh for 51 years, where they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1943, moving to Decatur in 1944. Mrs. Farrens was a devoted mother, friend and neighbor, and all who knew her appreciated and loved her pleasing personality. Her son, Bryan, preceded her in death in 1949, and her husband in 1952. She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Roy, Mrs. Ethel Penny and Glen, all of Decatur; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; three brothers, Hohn Bare of Lindbrick, Alberta, Canada, Charles of British Columbia, and Roy of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, two sisters, Tessie Huff of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, and Mamie Scotton of Cowley, Alberta, Canada, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
