Obit: Ida May Chamberlain, eldest daughter of John C. and Emily E. Harlan Wiant, was born December 19, 1889, in Fremont township, Clarke county, Iowa, and passed away December 22, 1961 at the Clarke county hospital. She was 72 years and 3 days old. She attended Fremont No. 8 school. She was a member of Union Chapel church and later her membership was transferred to the Osceola Christian church. On April 10th, 1923, she was united in marriage with Frank Chamberlain. Three children were born to this union. She lived her entire life in Clarke county, except for two and one-half years at West Burlington and Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, two sisters, Margery Lane and Ruth Harlan and brother Ralph Wiant. She is survived by her husband Frank; son Francis and his wife Grace; daughter Evelyn Todden and her husband Alfred; 10 grandchildren: Steven, Jeanne, Bobby, Johnny, Mark, Jimmie and Rebecca Chamberlain and Danny, Patti, and Susan Todden ; a sister Gertrude McNair of Arlington, California; also several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She had been in ill health for a number of years, having lost her eyesight 15 years ago. She did not complain of her misfortune and was always concerned for her family and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, at Webster's Funeral Home. Rev. Clinton D. Wolf officiated. The pallbearers were Ray Heston, Lloyd Garner, Basil Page, Floyd Newman, George Casey and Kenneth Van Winkle. Mrs. Alta Kimberlin played the organ, and Deloris Thornton sang "Sweet By and By" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. another grandchild Marianne Todden was born a few months later.
