She was born on January 6, 1905, in Bessarbia, South Russia, the daughter of Friedrich and Juliana (Renn) Mittelsteadt. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 6 months and they settled North of Zap. She married Carl Morast on January 7, 1923, North of Zap at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was born on January 6, 1905, in Bessarbia, South Russia, the daughter of Friedrich and Juliana (Renn) Mittelsteadt. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 6 months and they settled North of Zap. She married Carl Morast on January 7, 1923, North of Zap at St. John's Lutheran Church. The couple farmed North of Zap until 1926, when they moved North of Hazen where they farmed until 1938. The couple moved North of Zap and farmed until 1966 when they retired and moved into Zap. They became residents of the Pioneer Park Retirement Home of Hazen in 1981. Her husband, Carl, died in September of 1984. She became a resident of the Beulah Community Nursing Home in July of 1984, where she lived up until the time of her death. She is survived by five daughters; Evelyn Eisenbeis, Beulah, Adeline Pfenning, Bismarck, Eldora Myers, Salt Lake City, Utah, Norma Giese, Liberty Lake, Washington, and Arlene Carlson, Iowa; three sons, Clement, Glendive, Montana, Delton, Billings, Montana, and Carvin, California; two sisters, Sophia Wiedrich, Driscoll, North Dakota, and Rose Boeckel, San Diego, California; and two brothers, Adolph Mittelsteadt, Hazen, and Walter Mittelsteadt, Beulah. Ida was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 2 sons, 1 infant daughter, 2 sons-in-law, 2 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons.
