Description	:	Hicksville - Mrs. Ida R. Monroe, 79, a life-long resident of near Hicksville, died Friday at 7 p.m. in Community Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Church, WSCS, Hicksville Grange, Demeter Club, and a charter Loyal Worker. She was born on Sept. 5, 1881 in Hicksville, a daughter of Entriken and Eliza (O'Neil) Townsend. She married George W. Monroe on Dec. 11, 1898 and they settled on a farm, southeast of Hicksville. Monroe, 79, a life-long resident of near Hicksville, died Friday at 7 p.m. in Community Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Church, WSCS, Hicksville Grange, Demeter Club, and a charter Loyal Worker. She was born on Sept. 5, 1881 in Hicksville, a daughter of Entriken and Eliza (O'Neil) Townsend. She married George W. Monroe on Dec. 11, 1898 and they settled on a farm, southeast of Hicksville. Except for a short time in Antwerp and one year in Michigan, she lived in the community southeast of Hicksville. For several years following the death of her husband on Jan. 7, 1955, she lived on their farm two miles from Hicksville. She has been receiving care at Nowels Rest Home for 18 months. Survivors are; a son, Claron, and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Smith, both of near Hicksville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Clark, near Hicksville, and Mrs. Arvilla (Kernerer) Hootman, Hicksville; three brothers, Thomas Townsend, Toledo, the Rev. J. H. Townsend, Monroe, Mich., Neilus Townsend, near Hicksville; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Six Corners cemetery.
