Description	:	Ila Lu Friedline was born to Dale and Orva Friedline, on a farm near Davenport Aug. 7, 1927, and died Oct. 12 at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 5 days at Phelps Memorial Health Center, Holdrege. Attending Happy Hallow School through the eighth grade, she excelled academically, won the Thayer County spelling contest and placed third in the state contest. In 1944, she graduated from Davenport High School, entered Nebraska Business Institute, Lincoln, where she received a business diploma in 1946. She became a bookkeeper for Farmers Home Administration in York, Broken Bow and Holdrege. In 1944, she graduated from Davenport High School, entered Nebraska Business Institute, Lincoln, where she received a business diploma in 1946. She became a bookkeeper for Farmers Home Administration in York, Broken Bow and Holdrege. In Holdrege, she met Laurel Borden and they were married June 8, 1947, after which time she was employed as a bookkeeper-secretary for Allmand Brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Borden were blessed with four sons, Brian Dale, Scott Layne, Jon Arlyn and Michael Ray, and one daughter, Darla Jean. From 1969-1976, the family resided in North Platte where she worked as a bookkeeper for Mid-Plains Vocational College. She was confirmed and baptized while attending Christ's Lutheran Church, Davenport. Soon after her marriage, becoming a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, was involved in W.M.S., Pioneer Girls, Fidelis Sunday school class and Pair and Spares. Mrs. Borden was pianist for a gospel musical group, consisting of Walt Allmand, Muriel and Elna Anderson and Mr. Borden. Mrs. Borden recovered from a major illness in 1956. From 1958 to 1969 Mr. and Mrs. Borden owned and operated a paint store and religious gift shop, in North Platte they were members of the Bethel Evangelisical Free Church, leading children's church services and being members of XYZ's. She was active in W.M.S. and Pioneer Girls, Community activities in- cluded Flying Saucers, ex- tension clubs, Christian Business Women, Christian Booksellers Association, Band Mothers, Cub Scouts and Secretaries' Association. Preceding her in death were one sister, Davelle, and one son, Byron Scott. Survivors are her husband, Laurel; children, Brian, Scott, Darla, Jon and Michael; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Tiffnay; parents, Dale and Orva Friedline, Davenport; sisters, Mrs. Burton Karlain (Berdeen) Holdrege, Mrs. Elva Nelson, Glendale, Ariz., and Mrs. Don miller (Sharilyn), Upland; and many other relatives.
