Description	:	Ilah Nadine Rondot, 91, formerly of rural South Whitley died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident since early 2016. She was born July 16, 1927 in Defiance, Ohio a daughter of the late Guy Louis and Nella Ruth (Haynes) Babinger. Her formative years were spent in Ney, Ohio where she attended Defiance High School through her sophomore year. Read More	Ilah Nadine Rondot, 91, formerly of rural South Whitley died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident since early 2016. She was born July 16, 1927 in Defiance, Ohio a daughter of the late Guy Louis and Nella Ruth (Haynes) Babinger. Her formative years were spent in Ney, Ohio where she attended Defiance High School through her sophomore year. The family then moved to Fort Wayne where she graduated from North Side High School in 1945. As it was during WWII, her family move to California for her father work in the ship yards. There she met her future husband, Keith C. Rondot. The couple was wed on September 25, 1945. Following the war, the couple moved back to Defiance. In 1951, they moved to Fort Wayne and in 1956 they bought a farm near Paulding, Ohio. In 1974, they moved to rural South Whitley. Mr. Rondot died October 3, 1992. A full-time homemaker, she also worked at JC Penny, Co., Defiance, Ohio and from 1975 to 1987 she was a teacher’s aide at Whitko Schools focusing on special education. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of South Whitley, the United Methodist Women and Whitley County Homemakers. She enjoyed her flower garden, crocheting and had a special place in her heart for her cats. She was an accomplished seamstress, including making her husband’s dress suits. She is survived by three children, Nedra N. (Mike) Cox, Payne, OH, Rebecca A. Mercer, Columbia City and David K. (Anni) Rondot, South Whitley; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Additionally, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Kay Jesse and Marsh Watson. The funeral service is 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial is in the Booneville Cemetery, Richland Twp. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Humane Society of Whitley County.
