Read More	Ilona Jennie Sparling was born April 17, 1871 in Bryan, Williams County, Nebraska. Her parents were Lyman and Zelpha Ann Berg Sparling. The family lived in Ohio until her mother died in 1881 when she was about ten years old. Her father never remarried so Ilona likely assumed the household chores and caring for her two younger brothers. The Sparling family moved to Blencoe, Monona County,Iowa for a brief time. It is here that Ilona Jennie Sparling married Charles A. Haswell in 1889 in Onawa, Monona County, Iowa. The couple made their home in Burt County, Nebraska, on the homeplace of Charles Haswell. Charles and Ilona Haswell had three children: Ethel Mae (1890-1971); Earl Ronald (1892-1975); and Alva George (1895-1885). All children were born in Burt County, Nebraska. Charles and Ilona Haswell divorced in 1901. In August 1903, Ilona married Pliney Francis Browne. Phiney and Ilona Browne were living in Eureka, Humboldt, California in 1910 with her youngest son, George. Her other two children residered with her first husband, Charles Haswell. She returned home to Burt County, Nebraska in late 1920, and was there only a few weeks before she died December 3, 1920 in Tekamah, Burt County, Nebraska. Ilona Jennie Sparling lived a short and troubled life, dying at the age of 40. (bio Darlene Hightower)
