Stratford Courier February 7, 1901 Gone to Rest Died at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 1, 1901, the infant son of J.W. and Celia McKinney, aged 4 weeks. "There is a reaper whose name is death, and with his sickle keen. He reaps the bearded grain at a breath, and the flowers that grow between." This reaper has again entered our midst, and taken a bud, and transplanted it to bloom in the Garden of Eden. We can only point the sorrowing one's to Him who has said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee I will be with thee always, even to the end of the world." Our baby boy is sleeping In the cold and silent tomb. Our home is sad and lonely. And our hearts are filled with gloom. Oh how we loved our darling. More than tongue can tell, He is safe in the arms of Jesus, Who doeth all things well. We can hardly realize he is gone, So brief, so short, the stay. The Father sent his angel. And took the flower away. In God's holy ward we read. A promise, the Lord has given. "Suffer little one's to come unto Me' For such is the Kingdom of Heaven. So we lay him in a casket white, As was the soul of the babe within. We cannot call him back to earth, But we can go to him. How we will long to see the laughing eyes. And the dimpled hands we have kissed. And long for the touch of a vanished hand. And sigh for the voice that is missed. M. E. H.
