Description	:	Stratford Courier November 19, 1910 Mrs. J.W. McKinney died at her home in Stratford, Saturday morning, November 5, at the age of 45 years. Miss Celia Quist was born near Stratford, January 14, 1865. Her death came after an illness of three years, during which time she manifested the utmost patience, always kind and cheerful, fully resigned to the will of God, in whom she put her trust. Read More	Stratford Courier November 19, 1910 Mrs. J.W. McKinney died at her home in Stratford, Saturday morning, November 5, at the age of 45 years. Miss Celia Quist was born near Stratford, January 14, 1865. Her death came after an illness of three years, during which time she manifested the utmost patience, always kind and cheerful, fully resigned to the will of God, in whom she put her trust. She became a member of the M.E. church September 17, 1905. She was married January 22, 1884 to Charles L. Sterner of Page County, Iowa. To this union were born three children - one daughter, Mrs. Emma Wharton, and two sons, Edward and John Sterner, all of whom reside in Stratford. Her husband preceded her to the grave March 29, 1894. On March 29, 1897, she was united in marriage to J.W. McKinney of Stratford, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, one passed away February 1, 1901, at the age of three weeks. One son, Rudolph, is left with his father, who mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. She was the daughter of John and Anna Quist and grew to womanhood on a farm near Stratford. She was one of a family of nine children - six girls and three boys - one sister and two brothers having passed away before her. She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother. She was loved by all her friends and neighbors. She leaves to mourn her demise her husband, father and mother, one daughter, three sons, four sisters, one brother and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the residence and at the M.E. church Monday afternoon, conducted by F.H. Linn, who paid a very beautiful tribute to the departed one. Rev. A.H. Peterson of the South Marion church also spoke a few words of comfort to the sorrowing ones. After those present had been permitted to take a last look at the departed one the sad cortege moved on to the Oakwood Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest. Not now, but in the coming years, It may be in the better land, We'll read the meaning of our tears, And there, sometime, we'll understand.
