STRATFORD, Iowa, March 2. - Ingred Ellen Carlberg, 15, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carlberg, widely known residents of the Stratford community, died at her home yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock. Miss Carlberg had been ill only a week with the flu. She had been ill with diabetes for some time, however, and late Saturday afternoon she lapsed into a coma. No funeral arrangements have been made. She is survived by her parents and three brothers, Berne, Bertle and Iver, all at home. There are also many other relatives and friends. Miss Carlberg was a very popular young lady and widely known in the Stratford community. Webster City Freeman March 9, 1931 OBITUARY Ingrid Eleen Carlberg Miss Ingrid Eleen Carlberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlberg died Sunday afternoon, March 1, at her home three miles southwest of Stratford. She was 14 years, 9 months and 16 days old at the time of her departure. She was born June 12, 1916. Her death was very unexpected and came after an illness of only a few days. The Sunday before her death she was taken sick with the flu. Her physical condition being weakened by the flu it also became evident that she was suffering from diabetes. The day before her death she passed into a diabetic coma remaining in an unconscious and peaceful condition till her death. She leaves to mourn, her father and mother and three brothers, all who were at her bedside at the time of her death. Her brothers are Vernie, 16 years, Bertil, 12 years and Iver, 11 years. In her home she was very devoted, both as the daughter and sister, being the only girl in the family. She is also mourned by many relatives, neighbors and friends, most of her relatives living in the near vicinity. She is also mourned by her many schoolmates, both of her Sunday school and public school as well as by her close associates of the 4-H club of which she was a member. She was just completing her eighth grade in the public school and for several years had been a member of the Sunday school of the Stratford Lutheran Church. This fall she joined a confirmation class of fourteen members and with almost a perfect attendance she had been present at fourteen instructions with her pastor. Her pastor wants to make mention of the distinct interest in the Word of God and that as a confirmand she will also be greatly missed both by her pastor and fellow confirmands. Her spiritual attentiveness was evident and her childlike faith in her Savior was very impressive. Though she cannot be with the class as they are to be confirmed, a most beautiful memory of her will always be with the class. The funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday at 2 o'clock and from the church at 2:30 o'clock. The services were held at the Methodist church. The services were in charge of her pastor, the Rev. Anton Chell. The opening invocation was given by the Rev. C.R. Yeager, of the Methodist church. Three musical numbers were fittingly given by a mixed quartet and a duet by two members of the confirmation class. This duet, the flower girls, the pall bearers and their driver were all in a very fitting way chosen from the other thirteen members of the confirmation class. Burial was made at the Oakwood Cemetery.
