Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Arm-strong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with Elder Rita Bean, her niece, officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Iona Edith "Timmie" Hiller was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Harrison County, near Woodbine, to George and Mary (Ahart) Young. She was baptized and confirmed on June 12, 1927, by D.A. Holcomb and F.A. Fry in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1933. On June 4, 1934, she was united in marriage to Perry Lavern Hiller in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Harrison County until 1951, when they moved to the Guy Fischer farm near Danbury. In January 1957, Sherry (Kirkpatrick) Welte came to stay with the couple for the first time and after that you could find her tagging along with them on weekends to family gatherings. They enjoyed the family gatherings, playing cards with the neighbors, fishing trips to Minnesota with the Doses and Kirkpatricks but most of all, she enjoyed tea with her friends. She enjoyed cooking for the farm men and later cooked at Maple Valley High School in Mapleton and retired as head cook in 1973. They returned to Woodbine in 1974, where she cooked at Rose Vista Nursing Home and enjoyed helping with many church functions in her spare time. Perry died Aug. 27, 1991. She moved to Maple Heights Nursing Home in September 1992, to be closer to Sherry and her family. Survivors include her foster daughter and her husband, Sherry and Bob Welte of Danbury, Iowa; two granddaughters and their hus-bands, Teresa and Kevin Reitz of Hornick, Iowa and Sarah and Donald Davis of Mapleton; a grandson, Justin Welte of Danbury; a brother, Howard Young of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Arline Murphy of Omaha and Eugena Greer of Missouri Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Kenneth Dale; and three sisters, Edna McElwain, Irene Ondrak and Helen Leonard. ------------------- "Sioux City Journal" Sioux City, Iowa December 17, 2004 -------------------
