Description	:	Ira Everett Stenson, one of five children of Charles Stenson and Elizabeth Beck Stenson, was born March 26, 1894, on a farm near Dexter, Kansas, and passed away November 10, 1984, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls Co. Read More	Ira Everett Stenson, one of five children of Charles Stenson and Elizabeth Beck Stenson, was born March 26, 1894, on a farm near Dexter, Kansas, and passed away November 10, 1984, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls Co. Hospital in Superior at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 15 days. He attended country schools in the Republic and Hardy area. Ira spent all his life in the Republic and Hardy communities. June 5, 1918, he was married to Ruth Swihart. This union was blessed with three children. Ruth passed away December 22, 1949, and later on in years, Everett was married to Lulu Doher, who passed away August 17, 1979. He was a member of the Superior Elks Lodge #2197 and Superior Masonic Lodge #121 A.F. & A.M. He had also served on the Hardy School Board for several years. Everett loved farming and nature. Even during the later years of his life he planted trees to add to the beauty of the earth's nature. Preceding him in his death were his parents, his wives, Ruth and Lulu, two brothers, Harry and Claude, and a sister, Ethel Fisher. Survivors include two sons, Willard and his wife, Doris of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Norman and his wife, Sue of Hardy; a daughter, Virginia and her husband, Wayne Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two step-children, Pat Thayer and her husband Lynn of Nora and Don Doher and his wife Winona of Nelson; a sister, Faye Jensen of Superior; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 13, 1984, at 2 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with Pastor Ted McIntyre officiating. Carlita Price provided the special music playing "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were Mason Ely, Dave Oswald, Leon Simonsen, Glenn Edwards, Kenneth Jensby and Mike Thayer. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, November 15, 1984; pg. 7
