Ira Samuel Paisley was born December 5, 1894, in Garden county, the son of Ira S. and Mary (Wilson) Paisley. He grew up and received his schooling in this county. For many years he lived with his parents on their homestead north of Lewellen. May 23, 1918, he enlisted in the navy and served three years and four months during World War I, being discharged September 30, 1921. October 1, 1925, at North Platte, he was united in marriage to Daisy McCormick. To this union three daughters and two sons were born. He was a longtime member of the Oshkosh Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, Daisy Paisley; one son, Richard Paisley of Oshkosh; three daughters, Mrs. Duff (LaVonne) Jones, Trinidad, Colorado, Mrs. Glen (Carol) Calhoun of Selkirk, Kansas, and Mrs. F. W. (Mary Sue) Johnson, Lewellen; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, two brothers and. six sisters. At final rites, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Dunn sang two numbers accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Brown at the organ. Honorary pallbearers were I. E. Tilgner, Clayton Brunt, Fred Koberstein, Paul D. Temple, John Ross and Ray Brown. Active pallbearers were LeRoy Thelander, Bill Patterson, Jewell French, Frank O. Robinson, Everett McCorrmick and Donald McCormick.
