Description	:	Funeral services for Ira W. Lauresen, 56, who died Friday at the home of his son in O'Neill, were held Monday afternoon at the Orchard Evangelical United Brethren church. The Rev. C.R. Anderson officiated and music was provided by the Strope male quartet of Walnut, with Miss Bernice Strope as accompanist. Burial was in the Orchard cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Montgomery, Dent Van Dever, Elmer Rakow, Ted Kenison, Lewis Hansen and William Young. Ira W. Laursen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Laursen, was born October 19, 1893 at Walnut. He attended the Walnut school and York Institute in York. He was married to Miss Julia Buttfield March 8, 1916 at the home of the bride's parents at Venus. They lived on a farm in the Venus community until March 16, 1949, when the moved to Orchard. Mr. Laursen had been in failing health for some time, but his death, which occurred while he was visiting his son Virgil at O'Neill was unexptected. He was found dead in the garage at his son's home. He had reached the age of 56 years, 5 months and 12 days. Mr. Laursen was preceded in death by his wife, who died March 30, 1949, two weeks after they had moved from the farm He is survived by two sons, Virgil of O'Neill and Arden of Venus; four grandchildren, Richard, Sandra and Douglas Laursen of O'Neill and Jeanine Laursen of Vensus and one brother, Fred Lauren of Venus.
