Description	:	FRANCISCO, NC ~ Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Boaz Slate, 85, of Francisco passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center after a week of declining health. She was born May 7, 1920, in Stokes County, a daughter of the late Ida and James Boaz. Mrs. Slate is survived by two daughters, Faye Slate Flippin and husband Bill and Kaye Slate Spaugh and husband Bob, both of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Slate Parten; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Wilson of King; and a special niece and caregiver, Joyce Ann Phillips of Pilot Mountain. Mrs. Slate is survived by two daughters, Faye Slate Flippin and husband Bill and Kaye Slate Spaugh and husband Bob, both of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Slate Parten; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Wilson of King; and a special niece and caregiver, Joyce Ann Phillips of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Osby "J.O." Slate; her daughter, Mary Lynn Slate; and two sons, Gray Slate and Alfred Slate. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 12, at Brims Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Sue Flippin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Triad Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 5404, Winston-Salem, NC 27113.
