Description	:	Irene Leraun Harris, 87, of North Platte, died Feb. 21, 2008, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at the Litchfield Christian Church with inurnment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery 10 miles south of Litchfield. She was born March 21, 1920, at the family home near Sartoria in Custer County to George and Pearl Cherry (Eldridge). She grew up on the farm and attended school in Custer County. Read More	Irene Leraun Harris, 87, of North Platte, died Feb. 21, 2008, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at the Litchfield Christian Church with inurnment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery 10 miles south of Litchfield. She was born March 21, 1920, at the family home near Sartoria in Custer County to George and Pearl Cherry (Eldridge). She grew up on the farm and attended school in Custer County. In 1941 she went to Lincoln to help care for her new nephew and also worked at K.D. Factory and also at Nebraska Credit Union. On August 2, 1944, Irene was married to Kenneth Edgar Harris in a double wedding ceremony with Edgar's sister Leota in the Litchfield Christian Church at Litchfield. She was able to take two years of college courses at Manhattan Bible College in Manhattan, Kans. while her husband was attending school to become a minister. She loved taking care of young children and also had a fondness for animals. She enjoyed flower arranging, sewing, and ceramics. Survivors include her husband, Edgar of North Platte; one son, Ronald (Joan) of Malvern, Pa.; two daughters, Donna (Steve) Raaberg of Bremerton, Wash. and Debie (Mark) Dunsmoor of Pueblo West, Colo.; a son-in-law, Jack Price of North Platte; two sisters, Violet (Laroy) Fread of Kearney and Shirley Roberts of Milford, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Merle Cherry of Litchfield; one brother-in-law, Ray Wing of Montrose, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Cherry and Glenn Cherry; two sister, Ruby Wing and Fern Reitz; and her daughter Laree.
