Description	:	Irene Margaret Laska, the daughter of John Drog and Kathryn (Kula) Drog was born July 12, 1924 west of St. Edward, NE. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Edward Catholic Church. Irene attended Boone County School Dist. 66. She attended Fullerton and St. Edward High Schools graduated from St. Edward in 1942. Following graduation she attended St. Paul Business College, St. Paul, NE. Irene moved to Chicago with family and was employed at Merchandise Mart in Chicago, later returning to Columbus where she worked at Sears. On September 1, 1949 Irene was united in marriage... Read More	Irene Margaret Laska, the daughter of John Drog and Kathryn (Kula) Drog was born July 12, 1924 west of St. Edward, NE. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Edward Catholic Church. Irene attended Boone County School Dist. 66. She attended Fullerton and St. Edward High Schools graduated from St. Edward in 1942. Following graduation she attended St. Paul Business College, St. Paul, NE. Irene moved to Chicago with family and was employed at Merchandise Mart in Chicago, later returning to Columbus where she worked at Sears. On September 1, 1949 Irene was united in marriage to Sylvester (Sal) Laska at the St. Edward Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their six children southwest of St. Edward. In November of 2013 Irene moved to the Cloverlodge Care Center, St. Edward, NE. Irene was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church and the St. Margaret Mary Altar Society there. She also served as Secretary of Boone County School Dist. #26. She loved to be surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene loved to dance to Polish polka music, playing cards and going for drives to look at the countryside. Irene is survived by her six children, Ron (Marlene) of St. Edward; Kathy Hickey (John) of Omaha; Kenneth (Laura); Michael; Charles (Karen); and Martin all of St. Edward; thirteen grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Guenther and husband Werner of Columbus, NE; Evelyn Schott and husband Don of Silver Creek, NE; Lorene Cheloha of Columbus, NE; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband ; parents; and infant Son, John; brothers: Adolph, Leo, Edwin and Edmund Drog; Sisters: Stacia Paprocki and Wanda Valasek.
