Surviving are a son, Andrew Wilkinson of Lawtey; six daughters, Mrs. Amanda Blackburn, Mrs. Celia Redding and Miss Barbara Wilkinson of Lawtey, Mrs. Rebecca Chesser of Glen St. Mary, Mrs. Martha Crew and Mrs. Gladys Williams of Starke, three brothers, Willie Griffis of Glen St. Mary, Nathan Griffis of Raiford and Brooks Griffis of Jacksonville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Francis Starling of Macclenny and Mrs. Georgia Griffis of Lawtey; 42 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, 74 great-great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-great-grandchildren. FROM THE FILES OF DORA NORTH NAME OF NEWSPAPER UNKNOWN AUGUST 17, 1967 MRS. WILKINSON DIES AT AGE 110 Mrs. Easter Wilkinson, who, at 110, was Bradford County's oldest living citizen, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. T. Blackburn, of Lawtey, with whom she lived in recent years. Mrs. Wilkinson, who was known to her many relatives and friends as Aunt East was born in Bradford County on March 12, 1857, and spent her entire life within a few miles of her birthplace. Her husband was the late Bryant Wilkinson, and her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Berry Griffis, pioneer settlers of the northwestern part of Bradford County. Mrs. Wilkinson remained in reasonably good health, and with sound mind and memory. She remembered, as a child, hearing the muffled roar of guns in the distance during the Civil War Battle of Olustee near Lake City. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. Surviving is one son, Andrew J. Wilkinson of Lawtey; six daughters, Mrs. Amanda Blackburn, Mrs. Celia Redding and Miss Barbara Wilkinson all of Lawtey; Mrs. Rebecca Chesser of Glen St. Mary and Mrs. Martha Crews and Mrs. Gladys Williams both of Starke; three brothers, Willie Griffis of Glen St. mary, Nathan Griffis of Raiford and Brooks Griffis of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Starling of Macclenny and Mrs. Georgia Griffis of Lawtey. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren and 11 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, in the Long Branch Cemetery with DeWitt C. Jones Funeral Home of Starke in charge of arrangements.
